One of the major difficulties faced by cyclists in Chester is access to and through the City Centre. The dual carriageway (Nicholas Street, St Martins Way and St Oswalds Way) presents a real barrier to cycle access with only a few safe and convenient routes through. Once inside that ring there is almost no legally navigable cycle route across the City Centre during the main part of the day. Will these issues to be addressed by the CDT project?
It's hard to see how a serious "Cycle City" or "Cycle Demonstration Town" can avoid addressing these problems but I haven't come across any plans to do so.
What's the general view?

I have seen a CDT presentation which mentioned city centre cycle permeability as a project. I am not sure that it is actually one of the measurable objectives. My own personal list of Chester CDT issues would include:
1) Hoole Road Bridge improvements
2) City centre cycle permeability
3) Two way cycling in all one way streets
4) Left turn on red for cyclists
5) Right turn for cyclists at top of Canal Street into Northgate Street
What do others think?
